Mental Health Week 2026 - Primary Phase
Posted on: 6 October 2026We belong in the Buxton Family.
To begin Mental Health Week, Mr Sofronie led a Primary assembly on the theme of Belonging. Pupils were encouraged to think about what it means to belong, and what we can all do to help others in our Buxton Family feel they belong here too.

To put the idea into practice straight away, every child in the assembly turned to the person next to them, introduced themselves and learnt a fact about each other. There were plenty of smiles and chatter as new connections were made.
This week, we are all being asked to try something new to help everyone feel included. This might be striking up a conversation with someone we don't usually speak to, or giving someone else a turn in a game. Small actions like these can make a big difference to how welcome someone feels.

At home, you could ask your child:
- Who did you meet in assembly, and what did you learn about them?
- What is one kind thing you have done this week to help someone belong?

Thank you for supporting us in building a family where every child feels they belong.
