Making Sushi with Innovate
Posted on: 21 October 2026A Hands-On Session in the Lunchbox

This week, students at Buxton School swapped their usual lunch for something a little different, and the results were delicious.
In a hands-on sushi-making session run by Innovate, our school lunch providers, students learned how to shape sticky rice, roll it in nori, and fill it with whatever took their fancy. A wide range of healthy ingredients was on offer, including halal options, so that every student could get involved and create something they were genuinely proud of.

The session gave students a chance to try new skills, explore different flavours and enjoy food in a fun, creative way. From careful rice spreading to the final satisfying roll, there was plenty of concentration, laughter and (of course) tasting along the way.
As it t turns out, Buxton School has some serious sushi chefs in the making!
We would like to thank the Innovate team for running such an engaging session and for helping our students discover new foods in a positive, inclusive environment.
