Primary Geography
At our school, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive and engaging geography curriculum that adheres to the key areas of the National Curriculum: locational knowledge, place knowledge, human and physical geography, geographical skills, and fieldwork. Our aim is to inspire the next generation of geographers, fostering an understanding of our diverse and interconnected world.
We have introduced the innovative digital mapping software, ArcGIS, across both the primary and secondary phases. This ensures continuity in our students' learning experience, allowing them to develop and refine digital mapping skills throughout their time at Buxton. The use of cutting-edge technology engages our pupils and equips them with valuable tools for understanding and analysing geographical data.
Our geography curriculum is both diverse and inclusive, incorporating various cultures and regions to provide a well-rounded and contextualised education. By making our teaching relevant and relatable, we enable our students to engage fully with the subject matter, fostering a deeper appreciation for the complexities and wonders of the world around them.
We endeavour to create a learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and an awareness of global issues. Through a combination of hands-on fieldwork, interactive lessons, and exposure to different perspectives, we aim to instil a lifelong passion for geography in our students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to contribute positively to our ever-changing world.
