Year 7 and 8 students went on board the HQS Wellington moored on the River Thames. She served as a convoy escort during the Second World War and ensured that supply lines to Britain stayed open during the war. The students had the opportunity to take part in different forms of communication used aboard the ship, they did simulation battles to see how convoy escorts would have protected supply ships from German U-boats and learnt navigation techniques from the captain of the ship. All of the students were excellent and we had a great day.
Thank you so much for bringing your students onboard Wellington yesterday. We all commented on what polite, thoughtful and interested young people they were, what a credit to your school.
