We are a ‘GOOD’ School
Ofsted carried out their inspection of Buxton School, Leytonstone on 12 and 13th March 2013.The Ofsted report recognises Buxton School is a Good School in its overall effectiveness.
Ofsted commended Buxton School for many aspects of its work, and commented on the fast paced changes that the school has achieved since the last inspection, “Pupils’ achievement is good. Their progress has improved since the previous inspection and is now good throughout the school”.
This result could not have been achieved without achieving a good outcome in all 4 of the required criteria; Achievement of pupils, Quality of Teaching, Behaviour and safety of pupils and Leadership and management. Ofsted said Buxton School’s “leaders, managers and governors are fully committed to making sure that the school provides a good quality of education”.
The inspectors praised the support given to our pupils who are disabled or have special education needs and recognised that they also achieve well.
During their time here,the inspectors observed all aspects of the school from teaching and learning to school policies. They also spoke to pupils and got to experience first hand the school environment of Buxton.
Ofsted went on to confirm that the “behaviour [of pupils] is good in lessons and around the school. Pupils are polite and courteous. They respect each other and have good relationships with staff, so that the school is a calm and orderly place where pupils feel safe”.
Executive Headteacher,Kath Wheeler, said,“we are delighted that the result is positive and also delighted that there is now public recognition for all of the fantastic work that has been undertake to develop Buxton School to this point”.
